This may come as a shock to many of you, but I actually finished a thing! //side-eye toward stairs//
We’ve had this little side table bumming around our home for as long as we’ve been married. It was a hand-me-down from Kenny’s parents and matched a dresser that we refinished before we got married. Whew, that was a while ago! We didn’t need the side table right then, so we didn’t strip it and stain it like we did the dresser. But its day was coming.
I sanded everything down–stripping the top completely and simply roughing up the rest.
Then I painted the bottom frame, drawers, and doors. Yes, this was all happening at the same time we were prepping to install the stairs. Fast we are not.
After two coats of primer and three coats of cheap paint (the gallon that will.never.end), I stained the top, using a mix of some gray stain and some walnut stain.
I was going for a tone similar to our RH dining table, and sort of achieved it. It’s a bit darker and not as warm. But it’s good in it’s own special way.
I coated it all with a clear polyurethane that was accidentally VERY glossy. Meh. It’s fine. Fine=done. #standards
Then I had to find knobs to replace the dated brassy ones that came with this sidetable. This took me literally months, for no good reason. Hobby Lobby just seemed very daunting. I mean, who can possibly choose from their 3,569 hardware options!?
But I finally found some small, faceted silver knobs that are cute and called this project done.
Now this little sidetable has a new life! Fun timez.
